Research Groups
The Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases focuses on six major research areas. Learn more about our research groups.
Lung Health Research Group (LHRG)
Lung Health Research Group (LHRG)
The Lung Health Research Group (LHRG) at UCalgary's Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases is involved in numerous research areas targeting aspects of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD) for which current therapies are less than ideal.
Microbial Research Group (MRG)
Microbial Research Group (MRG)
The Snyder Institute’s Microbial Research Group (MRG) is a scientific research and education team working to advance UCalgary’s Infections, Inflammation and Chronic Disease (IICD) research strategy. Their research reveals insight into molecular mechanisms of bacterial diseases, allowing them to develop vaccines and therapeutic targets for disease intervention.
Immunology Research Group (IRG)
Immunology Research Group (IRG)
The vision of the Immunology Research Group (IRG) at UCalgary's Snyder Institute is to enrich society through discoveries in immunology. Our goal is to create a vigorous and dynamic research community that provides outstanding training to the next generation of immunology researchers.
Inflammation Research Network (IRN)
Inflammation Research Network (IRN)
The Inflammation Research Network (IRN) is a group of basic and clinical investigators at UCalgary's Snyder Institute at the Cumming School of Medicine and in the Faculty of Science. The group spans a number of disciplines and covers all aspects of molecular to clinical research, all with a common focus on inflammatory disease.
Gastrointestinal Research Group (GIRG)
Gastrointestinal Research Group (GIRG)
The Gastrointestinal Research Group (GIRG) at UCalgary's Snyder Institute is a multi-disciplinary group of scientists and clinicians from the Cumming School of Medicine and the faculty of Veterinary Medicine working to uncover preventive approaches and treatments for all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver health.
Precision Medicine in Nephrology Program (PMNP)
Precision Medicine in Nephrology Program (PMNP)
The scientists and clinicians in the Precision Medicine in Nephrology Research Program (PMNP), Snyder Institute, are researching molecular and genetic mechanisms of kidney disease, and developing advanced diagnostic testing and targeted treatments for kidney patients.
