Dr. John Conly is a Professor and former Head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services. He is medically trained as a specialist in infectious diseases, and was a past President of the Canadian Infectious Disease Society, past Chairman of the Board for the Canadian Committee on Antibiotic Resistance, and previous Vice Chair for the Canadian Expert Drug Advisory Committee. He is currently Medical Director for W21C and Co-Director for the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases at the UCalgary. He has published over 300 papers and has received multiple career honours in teaching, research, mentorship, innovation and service, including the Medal for Distinguished Service from the Alberta Medical Association and the Order of Canada. He continues as an active consultant in clinical infectious diseases with interests focused on antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, prevention of hospital-acquired infections and novel innovations in healthcare.

Dr. Susa Benseler is a pediatric rheumatologist, clinician investigator and professor of pediatrics at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Director of the Albert Children's Hospital Research Institute at the University of Calgary's, Cumming School of Medicine. Her research focuses on improving outcomes of children living with inflammatory diseases. She established the first Childhood CNS Vasculitis and Inflammatory Brain Diseases Clinic and Research program and built BrainWorks, an international Childhood CNS Vasculitis Investigator research and education framework. Dr. Benseler and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Rheumatology team have partnered with other interdisciplinary teams from Canada and the Netherlands, for precision health in childhood arthritis, and have created the Understanding Childhood Arthritis Network (UCAN).

Dr. Mody is both a medical doctor and a research scientist. His research expertise is in lung immunity and host defense to different microbes including fungi, bacteria and viruses. As a respirologist he sees patients with many different types of lung disease but is especially interested in those with chronic lung infections. His current administrative role is department head of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious diseases at the Cumming School of Medicine. His goal is to bring together clinician scientists and basic scientists to make new discoveries and to enhance the quality and integration of immunology and microbiology graduate training. His passion is to take the complex concepts of immunology and microbiology and explaining them for everyone.
