Biography

Tarah Lynch earned a Ph.D in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases from the University of Calgary studying host-pathogen interactions of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. She continued her training at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the USA through an ASM/CCID Fellowship where her focus was on Bartonella detection and assay development. Dr. Lynch then transitioned into bioinformatics through her work in bacterial genomics of Clostridium difficile at the Public Health Agency of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory. 

Dr. Lynch currently holds a position at the Alberta Provincial Public Health Laboratory as a Program Lead for Genomics and Bioinformatics where her work focuses on infectious disease surveillance and diagnostic test development using high throughput sequencing technologies.
