Upcoming Changes to LiveWhale Authentication

We are excited to announce that our LiveWhale Events system (events.ucalgary.ca) will be transitioning to Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication. This change is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance security and streamline access for our users. 

What does this mean for you? 

• Simplified login: You will be able to access the LiveWhale Events system using your UCalgary CAS credentials, eliminating the need for multiple usernames and passwords. 

• Enhanced Security: SSO provides a higher level of security by reducing the risk of password-related breaches. 

• Streamlined user access management: Reduce administrative workload required to maintain user lists through staffing changes and turnover.   

When will this change take place?  

• The transition to SSO is scheduled to take place this week (April 23 – 25). 

• Please note there may be a temporary disruption in service during this changeover. 

What do you need to do?  

• No action is required on your part. Your LiveWhale account will start using your UCalgary IT CAS login credentials automatically once SSO has been enabled in the system.
